Longing for another cookie...

I discovered the Cookie Museum thanks to recommendation from Cat. Cousin and I went there once to have dessert and were bowled over by the premium collection of exquisite cookies.

Pamper yourself with a lovely brewed pot of tea and sample the delightful bite-sized cookies as the lovely sales coordinator patiently explains what ingredients go into the scrumptious and yummy cookies.

They have such a wide selection of cookies- from fresh and fruity flavours to flowery ones. They even localised their flavours and offered a piece of heaven for those far away from our tiny red-dot. Flavours like hee bee hiam, nasi lemak and ikan billis, laksa and d24 offer much relief to the palettes of the home-sick.

What really got me sold was the Papaya and lotus seed cookie. The melt-in-your-mouth cookie had a lovely scent of the papaya fruit coupled with the sweetness of the lotus seed nuts. Yumz.. my mouth is watering thinking of this cookie.

Last Sat, we went a sampling again after dinner at Gluttons Bay. Wanting to savour the papaya cookie again, we were all set to part with our $30 over dollars for that 24 pieces of cookies, only to be told that it's no longer available! Some of their flavours are seasonal and only available for a limited period.

So after trying many flavours from Mango/cranberry, lemon/macadamia nut to madeline rose, the 3 of us finally agreed on the lemon/apple and macadamia nut cookie. Ooh..I feel like having another one with my peppermint tea now...

So visit the one and only Cookie Museum at the Esplanade Mall today and be intrigued with the array of cookies on display!

Have you heard???

This is rather fascinating....have you heard of Beancurd Tarts??? When I first heard it, I was thinking to myself, 'Tau Hui' in a tart... how strange?

I was having my haircut this evening and my stylist went on and on on this beancurd tart. I had to just ask her what it was...Well, true enough, it is what it is..Beancurd Tart. Apparently, its rather popular in Singapore and the tourists from Hong Kong often stock them up before heading home. How funny? I thought they would be stocking up on Pandan Cakes from Bengawan Solo..well I am wrong then..

Managed to do a google search and ta-dah..here it is <Le Cafe>.

Can I just ask for a teeny wheeny favour? If you so happen to try them out, please tell me if they are any good... :)

Cupacakes!

I guess I am on a roll on blogging today...haha... Its a lazy Sat afternoon. B is playing golf in China... I am stuck at home looking at my helper who is cleaning my house. That is 3 to 4 hours gone waiting for her to scrub my place :p hehe...

Anyway, I baked cupcakes with Cousin again. This time round, we decided not to be too ambitious, we decided to just bake one type of cupcakes. And I finally tried to make red velvet cupcakes... cousin called them bandung cupcakes! Haha... but the red velvet cupcakes are so prettily red! And this time round instead of using the cream cheese frosting, we tried making lemon cream cheese frosting, they tasted really good with the vanilla sponge cake.

Hong Kong Gastronomical Minute: Maxim's

It's almost a crime if you go to Hong Kong and not have dim sum! ;p And this trip, I was craving for egg tarts rather badly...Dun ask me why, its just a food fetish that I had at that point in time. So before I left to head back to Singapore, B decided to meet me for lunch at Maxim's restaurant at City Hall. I went there really early at 11.30 am to reserve seats. Apparently if you go after 12.30, the place is always jam packed and you have to wait for a very long time before you get your turn. But since I went there super early... I had plenty of time to get a table.

The dim sum was not that great to shout about.. it was normal to me, but I just loved to take in the nostalgia, I guess. You can spot the waitresses pushing their trolleys and shouting the food that they have in their carts. I just love that part! :)

Oh and my fave dim sum is this yummy dumpling in broth. Egg Tarts!! And last but not least, B introduced me to this soft beancurd that is topped with brown sugar.

Cupcakes Galore

So yesterday marked the day of my cupcake bake sale! Phew, its finally over! And my cupcakes were all sold, all 1400 of them!! It was pretty fun having to peddle them, but the boring part was sitting in the meeting room and waiting for the people to actually turn up!

And today, my 21 sessions marathon of training was finally over! Phew, that was tough work as well, begging for people to help out with the sessions.

Come tomorrow and the day after its the final dash! Once that's over, I can finally sit back, relax and start thinking about what to do for next year!! I can't wait to get my pedicure done!! hehe..

And ...tomorrow's our FIRST WEDDING ANNIVERSARY!!! :) Thanks B for being a loving hubby for this one year! Here's to our first and many more to come

New Eateries

I have always been bitching that there aren't enough cool places and restaurants to try out in Singapore. But with our little red dot touted to be the next 'Monaco' of the East, I am sort of tempted to start a new dining section on new eateries to try out on my blog.

So here I go a-listing down the next few yummy places to go. Personally I haven't been there, but have been reading about the rave reviews, so am just putting a bookmark for my own use. However, if you have been there before, pray tell if it is any good! :)

2am: Dessert Bar - a newly opened desert eatery - tucked in the corner of Holland Village. I had a quick look at the menu and it was rather interesting. Desserts took the center stage as the main courses whilst your normal hot food took a back-seat as the sides.

I guess I would want to try the Blackberry with lip-smacking ingredients of parfait, lychee air, basil and pinecake cake (middle image). The 'Twix' dessert sounds heavenly as well, a burnt caramel mouse with peanut crumble, home-made Valrhona chocolate ice-cream (first image)! And apparently the warm Chocolate tart with wild nettle, salted caramel with blood orange is a winner(last image)! Wowz! Desserts are priced from $13-15.

I know where to head to the next time I am at Holland V after my foot reflex session at Ashi. hehe

seeing red

The whole of last night, I was on a sugar high, surfing for cupcakes to order. I dunno if there are alot of offerings out there. But here are some that I managed to find:

1) Room for Dessert
Cousin ordered the white chocolate cake for our BBQ last week. It was creamy and yummy. Deep chocolate cake with raspberry filling, topped with a gooey layer of yummy white chocolate cream. Apparently, the chocolate cupcakes are good too. If I were to order, I think I would go for the Sumemrtime Carrot Cake. Been a while since I had carrot cakes! ;p A minus for me was the design of the cupcakes. I wanted something more stylish instead of smiley faces. So now I am in a dilemma, style vs taste?

2)C-Cup

These were the cupcakes we had last Friday. Their signature cheesecake cupcake topped with berries are definitely a hit! Its huge as well, can be shared by 4 people. I love their hot pink packaging!

3) Carnival & Co
Saccharine sweet and prettily decorated cupcakes are what you will get from Carnival & Co. I ordered my tower of wedding cupcakes from these guys as well last year. The chocolate and strawberry cupcakes are definitely yummy. And the pretty striped packaging is a plus-point as well!

4) Cupcake Divinity
Many bloggers have turned on their entrepreneurship by writing. Kudos to them!! I am still finding my niche and who knows maybe I will do the same one day. Anywayz, through surfing, found Cupcake Divinity online. Swirly lime creamy toppings are a sure way to brighten anyone's day! Lemme know if they are any good if you do try them.

5) Hot Fuchsia
I couldnt find a pic..but do check out the link. The cupcakes are really quite innovative with quirky 3D figurines popping up to life from the cupcake itself! :) I so happened to chance on this all-in-one catering company when I went for a photo-shoot a couple of years back and the stylist was snapping pics of them. I managed to savour one of the left-overs! :) I still recalled the dragonfly was so pretty, I almost didnt have the heart to devour it! But, I still did. haha....

Cup-a-cake dreaming

Been dreaming of cupcakes these past few days, despite the drama in my life. Anyway, I think it was sparked off cos Jenn bought those yummy cupcakes last Fri when we met up. Brought back memories of the cupcakes that I had at my wedding... all so pretty in pink. They were so pretty that I didnt really eat that many of them. But the family and friends all loved it..so it made great favours for them! :)

So am just randomly surfing for pretty cupcakes for my own birthday cake. Well, kinda loser to be looking at my own birthday cake..haha..

Okonomiyaki

Met up with the gals yesterday for an afternoon of Okonomiyaki and incessant chattering again!!

This time, it was off to lunch at Shinjuku. It was fun making the Japanese pancakes and Yaki Soba.. I was seated in the middle, so I didnt have to do much cooking :p sorry gals.

We even added our own variation of chilli to the yaki soba...end result? It tasted like Mee Goreng! Haha... I have more photos, but would have to take it from Andrea later.

After lunch, we went for an impromptu desert. MOCHI! Yumz...the center had a creamy ice-cream filling. With tons of flavours to choose from, we took quite a while to decide on the flavour. I decided to go for the Orange Passion Mochi. おいしい!!

Finally R-Style!!

Finally went to R-Style after a long while!! Brought Anna there since she is such a desserts person. We ordered the R-Style Parfait (pic 1) and the Mochi Skewers with Red Beans (pic 2).

Well, I really like the Parfait. The Mochi thingy is indeed interesting, cos you get to kinda barbecue the Mochi before dipping it into this 'Shoyu' dressing or 'Red Beans'.

Oh, they also give this plum drink on the house in a pretty little cup. Must finish up cos they only give out one teeeny cup per customer :)

ICE-CREAM!!!

You know SUMMER is HERE when you see LOOOOOOOONG QUEUES outside Cold Stone Creamery! The wait is really NO JOKE!! (okie..definitely shorter than the queue you will get at Krispy Kreme) But still expect to wait about an hour if you are one of those right behind (as in you are just outside Koots Tea).

But the weather is really perfect for COLD STONE Ice-Cream...sigh...I only got to eat tonnes of ice-cream in winter..haha cos no one wants to eat cold stuff. So B would always treat me with a cup of decadent ice-cream weekly!! That contributed to a couple of pounds being put on as a result...But am not complaining cos I cant get to eat it this Summer....
