I always look forward to going to Oak Door for various reasons. The alcohol and of course the yummy starters that B will always die-die order!! haha...lucky me :p
One is greeted with a big open bar and wine cellar at one end, so you can just hang out by the bar with the posh-nosh if you dont fancy having your meal. I like the open kitchen and the wood-burning ovens. You can peer over and check out whether the chefs are preparing your main course from time to time! :0
We started with 3 different starters! The sizzling scallops served with lemon and a spring of rosemary. Next up, is one of my favourites!! The yummy crab cakes!! B and I had to share one cos we went in a party of 3 this time round. And we specially made the bar get us our order of chicken wings with the blue-cheese dip!
Thereafter, we went to the Green Hole (ala Heartlands) and met more of B's crazee party colleagues. Got treated a Kamikaze but it was とてもとても強い (means very very strong!!). The good thing is that once you know the bartenders here, you hardly get watered-down drinks. They often give like double dosage in your drinks. Double-edged sword! ;p
And we thought we were going to go home, but we ended up meeting another of B's friends and tagged along for some good old karaoke! I miss lala sessions with Min, where we would just park ourselves into PartyWorld and just belt out tunes or just enjoy watching the MTV. Here in Japan, we dont get such a luxury. But we cant complain cos considered lucky if we can get Chinese songs here. We sang till like 3am and then headed home...wanted a warm bowl of Ramen but fave ramen place was super crowded..so we just headed home and cooked our very last precious packet of Maggi Mee.
