Kinchijio

Haven been doing my updating of blog as regularly..oops...been a tad bit busy trying to explore the parts of Japan that I have been so lazy to go...so its a mad rush.

Last week, decided to follow the girls to Kinchijio..except that I got lost whilst attempting to take the trains...kept taking wrong line. Was so frustrated at one point in time, that I almost decided to turn back and head home. But the curiosity of a new shopping district enthralled me..so I went.

Weather was so so hot and humid.....was just sweltering... so we ended up for coffee for the gals and a lunch for me. After that, we walked the streets to do some retail therapy. The layout of the shops reminded me of Osaka. Things are generally cheaper at Kinshichijio with a wide offering for food, snacks, clothes and accessories. Apparently, there is a nice garden for walks and the Ghibli Museum is situated here as well. (see infor below) Oh, if interested in going, advice to buy tickets to the Museum beforehand, according to friends, always sold out. Tickets can be purchased in advance at Lawsons :)

Ghibli Museum (三鷹の森ジブリ美術館 Mitaka no Mori Jiburi Bijutsukan?) is a commercial museum featuring the Japanese anime work of Studio Ghibli. Located in Mitaka, a western suburb of Tokyo, Japan, it opened in 2001.

The museum is a fine arts museum, but does not take the concept of a usual fine arts museum. With many features that are child-oriented and a sprawling and occasionally mazelike interior, the museum is a playfully created place. Centered around the motto appearing on the museum's website "Let's become lost children together." (迷子になろうよ、いっしょに。?), it has no set path or order of viewing. It seems to be primarily a Japanese tourist location, as though the museum brochure contains a variety of languages, the signs within the museum are in Japanese only.
